“This is what the LORD says:
"Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and
walk in it, and you will
find rest for your souls.”
- Jeremiah 6:16
Congratulations!!!!!
You've graduated and you're starting your life in the "Real World"! Are you ready?!
Where should I live? What kind of job should I go for?
What does it mean to be a Christian at work? How do I Find a Church?
Do I really have to tithe more than a dollar?
How do I plug in or fit in? Why am I so tired after work?
Who is FICA, and why are they taking my money?
What do I do, now that I don't have to study?
Where can I find community? Am I the only one going through this?
Have you started to ask these questions yet? The time of transition from academic life to the "real world" can be a dangerous one. You are bombarded with all these new decisions and freedoms all at once.
But looking at our theme verse, we find that we can "find rest for our souls" even as we stand at this Crossroads in our lives.
Crossroads is a study series that addresses the issues of transitioning from academic life back into the “real World” and church life.
For long time Christians, it is a review of well known passages and teachings, but revisited in this new context. In a sense going back to the basics and seeing how they apply here and now. For newer believers/seekers, it is an introduction into how the Gospel is practically applied in the way we work, fellowship, serve, manage our finances, and run this race.
For Recent Graduates:
If you want to look at what we go over, click on the various links to the left.
If you are interested signing up for a small group (currently only available through ODPC*), please "Register for a Small Group." We'll contact you with more information about when a group could be starting in your area.
If you are interested in having a similar small group offered at your church, have your leaders contact us!!!
For Church Leaders:
I am sure you know that our recent graduates matter! They represent the next generation of members and leaders in our churches. Serve them well, and we'll have a good foundation for many generations of believers. Letting them fall through the cracks leads to deficiencies in our Sunday schools, youth groups, and ultimately our adult ministries. We would love to share with you what we've learned! Let's get in touch!
If you fill out this registration form indicating that you want more information, we'll try to get in touch with you as soon as we can.
In the meantime, you can take a look at the history of Crossroads and our vision through the links to the left.
Crossroads has been incubated for the since 2002 as a small group ministry at Open Door Presbyterian Church in Herndon, VA. In those many years, we have refined the materials, purposes, and goals many times. We are still learning and adjusting, but want to share what we've learned with any other people/churches that are seeing the need to minister to recent graduates in a different way.
